UpTrade – Goats for Water is a women-founded and led agritech social enterprise that empowers underserved farming communities (smallholder farmers) by enabling them to trade their livestock—especially goats—for essential goods and services like solar home systems, solar water pumps for water access, and inputs such as seeds, fertilizer. Founded by Fariel Salahuddin, the initiative uses a barter-based model to restore dignity, strengthen climate resilience, and create economic opportunities for rural families, particularly women. The organization operates in Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan and is expanding to other regions, combining traditional practices with innovative, market-driven solutions to fight poverty and improve livelihoods.
